Please call during the hours of 7:00AM -12:30PM every Sunday (September - April) or between the hours of 5:00PM - 7:30PM on the 2nd/4th Sunday evenings (October - April).
The Grade-School Religious Education Program provides religious instruction for students in Kindergarten thru Grade 6 on a weekly basis from September through April. These classes are held at the Our Lady of the Mountain Church, Parish Center, and other on-campus buildings. They meet on Sunday mornings - Session (A) from 8:00-9:00AM, Session (B) from 9:30-10:30AM and Session (C) from 11:00AM-12:00PM. (Preference of a Session Time is given on a first-come, first-serve basis.) In the K-6 Program, there are approximately 25 sessions each year. Grades 7 and 8 meet on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month in the evening from 5:30-7:30PM from October to April. There are approximately 11 sessions.
Parents may register their children by calling the Religious Education Office. A child entering the Kindergarten program must be 5 years of age by October 1st of the current school year. A certificate of Baptism and other Sacramental history must be provided at the time of registration.
Students are required to complete one year of religious instruction before entering the Sacramental Preparation of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist in Grade 2. Before being accepted in the Confirmation Program, students are required to complete Grades 1 through 8 in a Religious Education Program.
Our classes in religious education offer instruction in doctrine, scripture, morality and the experience of prayer. However, the family is the primary setting in which faith is shared and nurtured. The Religious Education Staff depends on parents to: discuss weekly lessons at home; pray with their children; provide weekly attendance at Mass. We see parental faith-sharing as the foundation of our program.
Workshops for Eucharist preparation are scheduled for Saturdays in the Parish Center. Students in our parish program take an active part in the Christmas Eve celebration and the May Crowning ceremony.
CLASS CANCELLATION DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER: Parents will be notified by a telephone call from your child’s Catechist or the Classroom Aide. Cancellations will also be announced on WRNJ AM 1510. Please DO NOT call the Parish Office.
